Amco is fully committed to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment and to local communities and for ensuring that good environmental practices are implemented across our business.

Our structured risk based approach to environmental management is reflected within our Environmental Management System, originally established in 1998, which forms part of our Integrated Business Management System and provides a framework for:-

• establishing and reviewing our environmental objectives
• monitoring, reviewing and communicating our statutory and contractual requirements
• assessing and managing our environmental impacts such as our emissions to air, water and land and our impact upon natural resources, protected species and built heritage
• providing our employees with the knowledge necessary to meet their environmental duty of care
• assessing vendors and measuring their performance

Our Environmental Management System has been certified by the UKAS accredited certification body LRQA to the internationally recognised Environmental Management Standard ISO14001 since 1998.

Our environmental impacts are regularly assessed across all levels of our business and we have identified our significant corporate environmental impacts as the disposal of waste to landfill and the release of carbon emissions to air from the use of energy and motor vehicles. We are committed to reducing these environmental impacts and actively monitor and measure our performance in this respect. Measures taken include the establishment of waste management plans on projects which fully promote the recycling and reuse of materials and the use of energy from renewable sources in our offices.

Through the use of bespoke environmental training packages we train our staff in all aspects of planning for and managing operational environmental issues on site. Whilst our focus is on those employees whose activities pose the greatest potential risk to the environment we also ensure that every opportunity is taken to increase the environmental knowledge and awareness of all employees within the business.
