Altmouth Pumping Station Refurbishment of Penstock
Amco Engineering has completed Phase 2 of the works to refurbish the Penstocks at Altmouth Pumping Station on behalf of the Environment Agency.
Client:Environment Agency
Value:£336K
Location:Liverpool
The project consisted of the complete removal and refurbishment of 4 storm pump outer penstocks, the inspection and repair of built in parts for storm pump inner and outer penstocks one and four, the provision of a new drive system incorporating electric actuators for each of the 4 storm pump outer penstocks and the removal and refurbishment of 2 pairs of inner and outer gravity flow penstocks.
The Project team had to manage a complexity of risks to carry out these works safely and to the client's satisfaction. The associated risks included diving operations and working in a tidal water course, working and welding in confined spaces, multiple crane lifts and the protection of the water course from potential pollution hazards.
The successful completion of these works in a safe manner again highlights the highest levels of engineering competence and our ability to develop efficient workable solutions to complex engineering problems.
